GEAR TO GET YOU FROM THE CITY TO THE HILLS

From the City to our 3 Favourite Hills

Shane Mason

Edinburgh is a special city for so many reasons. One of those reasons is the fact that the city is surrounded by brilliant hills. Taking some time away to climb one of these hills not only gives you a break from hectic city life but they also reward you with unbelievable views of the urban environment you just escaped from. Literally giving you some perspective.

Below are our 3 favorite Edinburgh hill walks.

Arthur's Seat...

Start on Queen's Drive and make your way up. You can come back down the same way or freestyle your way down the other side, there's a few routes! You can even join the route to the Crags if you feel like going further.

Buses close to start point: 6, 300

Time: 1 hour (aprox)

Altitude: 251m (aprox)

Pentland Hills...

The Pentland Hills covers an area of 35 square miles but this walk keeps you on a route closest to Edinburgh and ensures those views of the city.  Start from the Snowsports Center car park just off Biggar Road. A great bonus on this walk are the highland cows that roam this trail!

Buses close to start point: 4, X15

Time: 2 hours (aprox)

Altitude: 400m (aprox)

Views of: Edinburgh,  Pentland Hills, Forth Road Bridges, The Firth of Forth
